Book Available For Fundraising
We have all heard of the dog days of summer, but few of us know what they really are. Green knows; his life began during those dog days in the summer of 2005. From the very beginning he had to fight to survive, and now, he tells his story.
The story fittingly was released on July 31st during the dog days of summer 2008 in the form of a book written by Green called The Puppy Who Refused To Die. In his book Green, a Golden Retriever, from Mesa, Arizona tells his touching story of survival. Green tells of his rescue at less than two weeks of age and of the volunteers that saved him. He tells of his brothers, sisters and of two other litters of puppies that were rescued that summer. He also tells of the medical condition that threatened his life and of the treatments that saved him. Green tells all this with the help of his foster/forever Dad, Paul Lockinger.
Paul lives in Mesa, Arizona with his wife Sue, four Golden Retrievers, and a cat. Through their involvement with animal rescue Paul and Sue have been the foster parents for numerous Golden Retrievers as well as Goldens at heart. Paul enjoys frequent walks with Sue and their four Goldens; all of which were adopted through animal rescue. Should you see Paul and Sue on one of their many walks, stop them; they will be more than happy to tell you about their favorite animal rescue group, Arizona Retriever Rescue.
For your enjoyment, Green and Paul added seventy five full color puppy pictures to this book. For some that have read The Puppy Who Refused To Die, it has been hard to decide which is better, the story, or the pictures. One thing is for sure though; this is a double delight.
Green was saved by a Golden Retriever rescue organization; as a survivor he wants everyone to know that those involved in animal rescue do make a difference. To that end Green and Paul offered this book as a vehicle to aide in fundraising for animal rescue groups. Through the help of the publisher, Florian Valentine Publishing of Mesa, Arizona, a program has been set up to donate a portion of the sales of this book to participating rescue groups. The publisher is actively seeking animal rescue groups interested in participating in their fundraising program. For more information on the program or to read the first chapter of the book, visit the publisher's web site at www.florianvalentine.com.
The Puppy Who Refused To Die is available now at Changing Hands Bookstore in Tempe, Arizona or online at both Amazon.com and the publisher's web site. We have also been told that it is available for loan through the Gail Borden Library in Elgin, Illinois.
As for "The dog days of summer"; the term refers to the hottest, most sultry days of summer.
